Food Standards Scotland

Food Standards Scotland is an open and transparent organisation which operates and makes decisions based on scientific evidence and with maximum public involvement.

Utilising the expertise of meat hygiene inspectors and official veterinarians, Food Standards Scotland works with all food business operators so they can ensure they fulfil their responsibility of working within legislation. Millers of Speyside come under the audit of Food Standards Scotland.

HACCP, (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points)

Our food safety and quality management policy includes a comprehensive HACCP system which safeguards the safety, quality and traceability of our products.

All our operatives receive basic food hygiene training on Induction. This includes health & safety awareness training too. At least a third of our work force will have completed Level 2 Food Hygiene while all Supervisors have completed a Foundation HACCP course. It is anticipated that the rest of the workforce will achieve Level 2 in Food Hygiene shortly. Practical training consists of on-the-job training and observation with continuous assessments by the relevant Supervisor. Refresher training is also conducted.

UK Beef Labelling Scheme/Certification of Approval

The Cattle Assurance scheme is an essential element in the "whole chain" consumer assurance scheme. It is the longest established scheme of its kind in the world and celebrates a milestone 25th anniversary in 2015.
